Re: “The World's First Air-Guitar Museum and 3-D Interactive Experience opens Friday at Sprint Accelerator

I'm traveling to beautiful KC to enjoy an evening of performance art extraordinaire by the best and brightest - America's Air Guitarists! I'll spend the night, buy fuel and food and generally enhance the economy of Kansas City in my own little way due to this once in a lifetime event. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it. If you're holding an air guitar, you can't hold a gun... May the Airness be with you... Always!

It would have been cool to see a picture of the (rare) bass saxophone mentioned in the article, instead of that (common) baritone saxophone.

Re: “Your August 5 streetcar and Amendment 7 tax questions answered

*It’s billed as a temporary 10-year tax, though the Legislature has given no indication that it won’t try to renew it after 10 years (as often happens with “temporary” taxes).*

Again, wrong.

The tax actually comes up for a vote again in 10 years (and every ten years thereafter) automatically. The legislature has nothing to do with it.

The purpose of the ten-year renewal is accountability from MoDOT directly to the people. If you don't like how the money is being spent, after 10 years you can vote it down and you'll never see that tax again.

And again, Missouri's transportation funding is and has traditionally been set directly by vote the people through the initiative process, and funds collected pass directly to MoDOT. The legislature has, literally, no say whatsoever in how much is appropriated or how it is spent.

Re: “Your August 5 streetcar and Amendment 7 tax questions answered

The Missouri Legislature, which has failed to adequately fund road and bridge projects over the years, approved a constitutional amendment to increase sales taxes by three-quarters of a cent statewide to pay for various road and bridge projects. It’s billed as a temporary 10-year tax, though the Legislature has given no indication that it won’t try to renew it after 10 years (as often happens with “temporary” taxes).

Like it or not, under Missouri's system, transportation funding is set by voters in periodic elections like the one coming up August 5th.

Once voters have spoken, the legislature is reluctant to (and also restricted from--Hancock Amendment) fiddle with with the tax rates.

By the Missouri Constitution, as approved by Missouri voters in our grand experiment with direct democracy, Missouri's Transportation taxes pass straight into a special fund that is administered by MoDOT and does not go through the normal legislative appropriations process.

Re: “Justin Timberlake oozed charm last night at the Sprint Center

The concert was amazing. I think the autor is the only person who has some complaints about it. JT is incredibly talented. Love him.

Re: “Justin Timberlake oozed charm last night at the Sprint Center

Did anyone think it was weird when he came off stage with a tray of mini deviled eggs and ham rollups and started passing them out?

Since groceries won't be taxed, what exactly will be taxed if Amendment 7 passes?

You must have received special treatment because that is the complete opposite experience we had with the food and service was subpar. Reviews on Yelp are mixed and not good ratings as compared to other M.S. establishments.

Re: “Your August 5 streetcar and Amendment 7 tax questions answered

Using purely governmental logic the streetcar is better than a bus because it is less flexible, costs more, and is cute.
