Freedom yoga class for men
Men who would rather om their way to mental well-being, rather than grunt through pec-straining workouts, should attend the freedom yoga class at KC Fitness Link (510 North Sixth Street, in Kansas City, Kansas, 816-256-4443). Darryl Olive, director of programs, started the class because he was tired of being the only man taking yoga. "I wanted to offer the experience of not being the only guy to other guys," he says. His program focuses on flexibility and working the hamstrings, back and hips to strengthen the body. Sign up online or just show up, and take a mat and water bottle. (You can buy or rent a mat there, too.) The class goes from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. each Monday and Wednesday, and at 11:30 a.m. every Saturday. Each class begins with breathing and meditation exercises. Get there 10 minutes early so you aren't locked out — Olive locks the doors to ensure that his class can maintain concentration. See kcfitnesslink.com for more information. $20

Trivia Riot with Roland

A year ago this weekend, Trivia Riot — that long-cherished weekly brainiac challenge — moved up McGee Street, from the Brick to Retro. Tonight, the award-winning quiz relocates again, past the river to Helen's JAD Bar & Grill (2002 Armour Road, North Kansas City, 816-471-4567). Host Roland Reschke just reached his own milestone: the five-year mark of leading this two-hour game. He estimates that he has written approximately 20,000 questions. "It will remain our usual challenging game with a broad range of categories mixing pop culture and more educationally sophisticated material," he says. Trivia Riot now starts at 7:30, but look for extended happy-hour prices: $8 Bud Light and Miller Lite pitchers and $3 wells. The $5-a-person buy-in remains the same. $5 per person

Free salsa lessons
Kelly Osbourne was known as a fleshy loudmouth before her Dancing With the Stars debut. But when Ozzy Osbourne's daughter danced the salsa, she transformed into a sultry little thang, prompting judge Bruno Tonioli to declare her "flirty, dirty and sexy." For locals seeking such a makeover — or those simply seeking a new nightlife adventure — the Kansas City Salsa Club offers help with free salsa lessons for beginners at 9 p.m. every Friday at the Marquee Lounge, inside AMC Mainstreet (1400 Main, 816-474-4545). Prior experience of shakin' it to Latin music is not required. "We go easy on salsa virgins," club leader Howard Carney says. The club also has dance lessons five nights a week, but only the Friday lessons at the Marquee are provided free of charge.
