Plaza III is past its prime. When all the steaks at the table are poor, on multiple occassions, it's time to give it up.
At the time of this verdict, I remember reading a more detailed account of the facts. Apparently, McDonalds had exceeded their own standards in how hot the coffee should be and had received numerous complaints about the excessive temperature but did nothing to abate the problem. Ms. Liebeck had to have skin grafts in her groin area to repair the burn damage.
There's usually more to these stories than the media reports. Jury decisions are usually not as "off the wall" as they first sound.
And if you don't want to go downtown, the Chinese Market on 87th st called "888" is moving in to the old Hy-Vee location on 119th and 69 Highway by Nov. 1. Their lobster prices are a bit more ($10/lb.) than the downtown market as of yesterday, but nowhere near the $22/lb that Hen House wants. And, they are fresh and active.
Re: “Who makes the best steak in Kansas City?”
For restaurant steaks, chain or no chain, Ruth's Chris can't be beat.
For grocery store steaks, the prime meats at Costco are excellent.
