I agree that the Lee's Summit location was a dog, but why agree to it in the first place? I used to be a regular 3-times-a-month customer at Eastwoods. It always did irritate a bit that you only had a small chance of ever getting a refill on water or tea, and if you asked for 3 things (water-sweet tea-hot sauce) the server would always get two wrong or just forget. How hard is it? You're not ordering food. But the complete Waterloo came for me like Scotty. I showed up BEFORE 8pm on a weekend night and was refused service. The woman said that they didn't seat people after 7:30 because "some people like to sit too long." Wonderful food, the best catfish, and the worst service in town every time out, yet every employee was friendly! But if Peachtree didn't need my business at a prime hour on a weekend night, it doesn't need me at all. No tears: It simply forces you to find better alternatives when one of your regular spots no longer deserves your business.
It's hard for me to believe that people can keep voting the Flea as the "best" burger in KC any time, let alone year after year. Very run of the mill, and not even comparable to Hereford or Blanc. Not even as good as Fuddruckers. I'm probably not alone needing to get around and try some of the others mentioned, but the Flea doesn't cut it.
I've been eating goat for 35 years and 3 continents, with pleasure. New Tandoor's goat falls WAY short of Taj Mahal's at 75th/Wornall. There's just no comparison. As an Indian food devotee who supports every Indian restaurant I can (so they won't close and we'll have variety), I gave New Tandoor about a dozen chances to impress me. I'm still waiting. I'm also just salivating thinking about Taj Mahal's buffet. The Tandoori chicken is also way superior to New Tandoor's overcooked version.
Agreed on Peachtree. That's canned "cheese by Monsanto" that never saw a cow, or my tastes have not responded to years of eating out (I'm 56). I wouldn't scoop any of Peachtree's to my plate if I were there. They do put a little cheddar on top.
Re: “Our five favorite pork tenderloin sandwiches in Kansas City”
How can this subject even come up and nobody mentions the Corner Cafe in Riverside? Wonderful loin. Eat with fries, though, not the onion rings.
