Re: “Missouri school district bans 'biblically contrary' novels by Kurt Vonnegut and Sarah Ockler

His kids are home schooled! That speaks volumes. He sounds like the kind of guy who complains about the menus at restaurants he doesn't go to. His unfortunate kids are going to be ill-equipped to deal with exposure to ideas other than their own.

Re: “Forget Trader Joe's, let's hear it for Aldi!

No, but when the store selection is so limited, you really miss the omissions.

One thing both stores have in common: they will stop carrying one of your favorite items without warning.

Re: “Consumer Reports names KC Masterpiece as part of its best BBQ sauces

Why should CR even be interested in sauces that are hard or impossible for most of its readers to get hold of? That's not what CR is for. Besides, when they criticize something, they've at least tasted it first, and they can usually explain why.

Food snobbery gets a little boring when it's just a matter of telling people that they shouldn't be enjoying the stuff they like.

Re: “Katie Horner is officially on the way out the door at KCTV5

This is terrible news. Now who am I going to trash talk anonymously in online forums to boost my flagging self esteem? If I'm lucky, maybe her replacement will be a less-than-perfect physical specimen whose looks I can criticize from relative safety.

What's worse, the loss of a drinking game will force me to get plastered on my own initiative.

Re: “Missouri Rep. Todd Akin not sorry for saying liberals have a 'hatred of God'

He's apparently never heard of the Christian Left. Or had a conversation with a liberal. Or an atheist. But insulating yourself from opposing viewpoints makes for a poor sense of situational awareness.

Re: “Louis C.K. calls Kansas City 'a terrible place' on The Tonight Show (video)

Maybe people who can't appreciate Louis should stick to NASCAR and Larry the Cable Guy.

I personally don't think KC is all that bad, but like most cities, it does have an inflated sense of itself.
