Re: “Sheridan's fast-casual experiment passes the fork test

There are plenty of restaurants in this city you can go to if you want to avoid screaming children. If you do not like kids, you should probably stop hanging out in restaurants in the suburbs.

Re: “Which 2011 food trend are you over?

hmm, i am pretty sure KC has not even gotten around to any 2011 food trends.  putting bacon on everything has been going on since what, 2008?  foodie food trucks have been around for years in many cities.  same with "gourmet" hot dogs, etc.  KC has a decent food scene, but we aren't really "up to date" in any way - and with few exceptions our entries into any sort of "trendy" category from 2009 have been pretty lackluster.

Re: “Why isn't this old Chili's a hot property?

i am sure the economy puts a damper on this, but that entire strip mall is a pretty primo spot for a mixed-use development - condos or apartments on top, retail/restaurants on the street level.  it is so stupid that we have so many lame independence-style strip malls all over the most densely populated area of this city.

Re: “Chef John McClure to open Barrio, a taqueria

people who complain about parking in westport are wusses.  i have never, in 10+ years of going to westport, had a problem finding a good parking place almost instantly.  what is with the parking obession in this town?

tip:  during peak hours, do not even try to park around the penn/westport intersection.  park on the east side of broadway, in front of dave's stagecoach, and walk a block to your destination.  100% of the time there is a parking space in this area, while 20 people circle the block at penn/westport.

Re: “Jonathan Justus may open new restaurant in the Crossroads

this is exactly the kind of project that investors should be looking for. it is mind-boggling to me how people seem to find money for the latest "ultra lounge" that goes belly up in six weeks or another freaking yogurt shop, while skilled chefs or others with vision and skills cannot get their places up and running...
