Re: “What's the best way to deal with an office fridge thief?

Poison, seriously...

A teaspoon of Drano in your most luscious looking chicken salad. Some anti-freeze in your fruit cup...They will never spot it until it's too late.

Never done it, but I believe it would work. Or, you could just paste this on your refrigerator door?

Re: “The Art of Smokology and four other weekend possibilities

May I respectfully disagree with jjskck ? I was an absolute novice (had an $89 Brinkman smoker from Walmart) and had wasted about $100 worth of meat...edible but only by those who loved me.

So my lovely wife gives me a 'birthday present', the class described above. I ended up taking about 15 pages of notes... Mr. McPeake has FORGOTTEN more than I will ever KNOW about cooking ! Remember that any type of education is a journey, it begins with a single step and can last a lifetime.

I have now upgraded to a $200 smoker (still from Walmart) and I am generally proud of my product, although I always see ways to improve.

jjskck offered a backhanded compliment to the class. If you have competition teams showing up, you know it must be worthwhile ?

Re: “Smallcakes is ready for the big time

The reviews on Yelp.com (url above) are NOT at all flattering for Smallcakes, although quite consistent.

There's a Hen House grocery a mile away with a tasty (and economical) bakery, might be better to try there...

Re: “Lessons learned from a Lawrence restaurant

Dear Mrs. Krause,

("a rejection of the food that is made in love -- often rejected before even trying it -- is a rejection of the hands that prepared it.")

You only get to cop that attitude when you GIVE the food away...

Re: “Top 10 cookies in Kansas City

I stopped by Taste on Friday to get their cookie sampler. I asked the hostess how much and was told $10. After placing my order, I thought that I remembered it was much less on the menu, checking again I confirmed that it was only $7. Hostess comment: "That's weird...", did not offer to correct the price to $7!

I look forward to driving by when they are closed, should not be too long now.
