Generally, yes. But there's a famous Chinese restaurant in San Francisco (House of Nanking) where the staff treats you like shit but there's always a line out the door because the food is amazing. That's the only exception I can think of.
I just made vegan chocolate chip cookies (with veg. oil, instead of eggs and butter) and you'd never know the difference. My problem with Mud Pie is the exorbitant cost of the baked goods. Yikes!
I had their marzipan ice cream last year that was ORGASMIC!!
I remember taking someone out to eat at a fairly nice restaurant right before I departed SF in 1997. I spent $75 on both of us (entrees, drinks, desert) and remember thinking that was SO expensive, the most I'd ever spent on a dinner. The food and company were excellent so of course it was worth it.
