I am wanting to start up a food truck as well. I'm interested in a sushi truck, but not sure if it will do well in Kansas City.
Can the answer be neither of them?!?!? The only place I've every been satisfied every time with a burger is McCoy's in Westport. I've become a bit biased in terms of my burgers and not even the likes of Blanc burgers appeases me.
This burger restaurant is a serious joke in terms of serious burgers in KC! First, the decor is absolutely horrendous! Whoever thought of throwing together those ugly cutouts along with the nascar stuff needs to reconsider how it affects the ambience. I get the impression that whoever decorated had some odd preconceived ideas about America and its burgers and it went horribly wrong. Secondly, the burgers lacked any real smokiness within the beef and were cooked all the way through, resulting in a dryness that was not appealing. Also, the brick of the greasiest curly fries are disgusting! I understand wanting a little grease with my food every once in awhile, but this is beyond fast food greasy standards. I just sometimes wonder how these places operate and can maintain steady business. If KC Smoke Burgers is serious about its burgers, then it needs to take a serious look at the entirety of its business and makes some serious changes. If not, I'm not certain KC Smoke Burgers will remain too much longer.
Re: “Drunken Fish, new Power & Light sushi spot, 'very close' to opening”
I've always wanted to start my own sushi restaurant in Kansas City, but the more sushi restaurants I see popping up, the more I don't want to start one. I've always wanted have a restaurant in Westport, since that's always been my scene. It's intimidating when the likes of The Drunken Fish and RA Sushi come in with loads of money and create an atmosphere that people just soak up. They're obviously doing something right if people keep coming back.... so I'm not bashing on them at all. I'm sure the P&L crowd will be pleased to spend their money on what DF has to offer.
