Re: “Steal plates: Our guide to a week's worth of cheap eats

Shout out to Niecie's Restaurant 6441 Troost. Super cheap home cooking, most excellent pan fried chicken. I get the 4.99 meal with green beans, cornbread muffins and a lemonade. Talk about food coma.

Re: “Crosstown Station officially calls it quits

This was a very nice place.  A shame to see it go if that is the case.  I thought it was beautifully designed and built and I was thrilled to play it a few times.

It was large and hard to really fill.  It sounded boomy without a full crowd of people.  The load in / load out situation was kind of a clusterfuck, super fun if it happened to be raining and six bands were moving shit in nine directions.   Granted, they had more room than most clubs and I was happy for that.

I probably agree with the fact that there are too many clubs in this town all vying for the same hipsters on the same nights.  My theory was to maybe cut down to The Record Bar (for alt stuff), the Riot Room (shudder... for heavy stuff) and possibly Davey's Uptown Ramblers Club (For twangier stuff)   I'd keep the Brick because it has street cred it and its an awesome dive.   Maybe if they were only running live bands on the weekend nights, we'd have some crowds at shows. Not sure where that would leave the Crosstown Station, I'd hope that would retain larger, possibly touring acts and leave the smaller clubs for the local scene.  The idea is that you'd have to be good and really bust ass to get gigs, particularly someplace like the Crosstown Station.

My idea probably wouldn't impact the influence of the old boys club or hipster networks, but it might be a start.

This comment is on an old post and will probably never get read...  queue the barrage of hate-speak if i'm wrong.

Re: “David Hasselhoff on Acid

Good job guys. Glad to see some attention thrown your way. Only took five years of bashing your head against the scene to get a note from the Pitch.

Re: “Jason Whitlock wants an intern, bitches about kids today and their MTV

Apparently he hasn't accounted for the cost of living adjustment that needs to be made when moving to LA from the midwest.  8-10 bucks and hour wouldn't buy shit. Good luck with that.

Re: “Star: KCMO getting Google ultra high-speed broadband, too

Well, this could be sweet depending on who on the MO side gets the hook up.  Unfortunately for myself and i'm sure many others, I live in an apartment complex.  Lately my options have been TimeWarner, TimeWarner and TimeWarner.  No ATT U-verse, no Comcast, which is probably a good thing.  I think TW has some kind of deal with the developers, all of the cable turn on jacks were covered in a TimeWarner sticker.  I pay something in the range of $65 a month for the supposedly 15 Mbps down 'Turbo', which equates to about 2 Mbps on a good day, just trying to stream Netflix.  They want a bill for 50 Mbps down, which is probably just magic.

Re: “Updated: Exclusive pre-sale for Pitch readers: Kings of Leon

This is hilarious. God forbid a band gets mainstream attention and money. Fuck these assholes is correct. Saw them at the Sprint Center with Band of Horses about a year ago. You know what? They rocked. And they were nice. And there were thousands of hot bitches in all directions. More than I can say for the Hipster Bullshit that is only worthy of your praise. "Well, they are popular now, so we have to collectively shun them..." Go suck a bag of dicks.
