I'm completely over not being able to buy more than one bottle of Boulevard Smokestack seasonal or limited edition beers when they're released at my favorite liquor stores...and tired of bloggers inducing panic about availability. I just want my beer, dammit.
Loved the food, and loved that it was right outside the Westport Coffeehouse, where I had shows all weekend. Didn't love that audience members had to do a 4 block detour to get to McCoy's for dinner before and drinking after the show. Cutting off a block of one of Westport's busiest entry points kinda sucked. Also sucky? "I'm sorry...you can't take your water outside the gate." Seriously?
Jack Stack...but also love me some OK Joe's.
Boulevard Two Jokers. And Tank 7. And maybe Sixth Glass.
It's a long day.
Same here. Velvet Dog, Blanc Burgers + Bottles, The Drop, Tannin Wine Bar...all let me booze it up cheap.
Had a horrible experience at the Crossroads location. Got in at about 5:45 hoping to order a quick slice—nobody even approached our table til 6, when they told us it was too late. The guy (I'm assuming he was the owner) was incredibly rude, and treated us like we inconvenienced him by being there. The pizza was fine—but certainly not worth the treatment.
Re: “What can you take from KC to out-of-town relatives?”
Christopher Elbow fits great in suitcases. I've also carried OK Joe's brisket, pulled pork, chicken, beans, gumbo and sauce to Chicago. (I won't do that again.) And shipped Minsky's pizza to Orlando.
