Re: “Iowa teen David Rozga smokes K2, freaks out and commits suicide

IamRU: I agree with you about regulation. If i were the owner of a smoke accessory shop I would NOT sell k2 to those under 21, and at the shop I obtained mine, I was carded. I don't know if they were looking for 18 or 21, but it should be 21. Regulation and education make WAYYY too much sense, and would actually be effective. Prohibition is NOT regulation. Prohibition is GIVING UP regulation, and all control to the underground black market. There may be call to REGULATE this substance, but theres NEVER a reason to prohibit it. Alcohol prohibition and the 2nd amendment tell us everything we need to know about attempting to limit freedom to add to a false sense of security.

Close to Rozga: I would absolutely look his parents DIRECTLY in the eye and explain to them how inanimate objects cannot CAUSE things to happen and that their SON CAUSED himself to die, either accidentally or by choice. I may shed a tear, cuz hell, its sad he died. My best friends older brother shot himself either accidentally or purposefully, its quite sad, however, sad instances like this are NOT reasons to take freedom away from the rest of the people, because something bad happened to 1 person. If that were the standard logic our laws were written with, then there'd be a lot of activities americans engage in every day that would need to be made illegal, like car racing, luge racing, bobsled racing, skiing, snowboarding, etc.

Anonymous(es) that wrote 'x1124- You are an idiot. Go get a life and a BRAIN! MORON!"

Nice logical argument, you must be on the debate team. Name calling, and no substantive backup facts or logic always win a debate right?

Re: “Iowa teen David Rozga smokes K2, freaks out and commits suicide

Hey IamRU:

If we banned fast food it would save WAY more than just 1 life, would you be in support of that? If we banned ice cream, and other addictive sweets, we'd save WAY more than just 1 life, you in favor? If we banned hang-gliding and skydiving, we'd DEFINATELY save more than just 1 life, So how 'bout it? I don't ever want to go hang-gliding in my life, so I don't care if its made illegal for EVERYONE. To quote Benjamin Franklin: "those who would trade liberty for security deserve neither" Its OK to let free people be free and make their own decisions. Don't like K2? do what the anti-tobacco people do, start an add campaign. The anti-tobacco people have made a bigger impact on both youth and adult tobacco smoking than prohibition has made in reducing both youth and adult cannabis consumption. When you simply EDUCATE people, and let them make their own decisions, you have the best policy. Look at alcohol prohibition, though a "noble experiment" it was a disaster when freedom of choice was taken away from the individual. And to all you "you must smoke pot and be a loser" types, I say: Yes I use cannabis every once in a while just like many americans enjoy a glass of wine after dinner. There is NOTHING wrong with that, regardless of legal status, its the same amount of wrong as driving 3 mph over the speed limit. It does NOT control my life nor affect my decision making process nor keep me from being a completely functional member of society. I run my own business, employ other people, and give back to my community, but just like those who judged people unfairly because of the color of their skin, we live in a country where the people judge other people unfairly due to choosing any lifestyle that isn't church-approved. Good decisions can be made while sober, drunk, high, tired, or angry. Its done by millions of people every day. In this case I'd venture a guess that it was an accidental discharge, many accidental discharges are 1st considered suicide when the aftermath is found.

Re: “Iowa teen David Rozga smokes K2, freaks out and commits suicide

Wow so many people lacking understanding of personal responsibility. Saying the K2 killed him is like saying he got a small beer buzz on and then wigged out. It must have been the small beer buzz. Sorry it was the PERSON. I know way more that you guys know about K2, I've actually tried it, it doesn't make you hallucinate, it makes you slightly relaxed, the author of the article is correct, find someone who actually hallucinates or has real psychological effects other than relaxedness, you won't find any. And to the ignorant retard who says "get your fact straight" right after claiming a flat out lie. WHERE has it been a "PROVEN suicide" Since that doesn't make any sense in english, I highly doubt you have some study ready to cite, you're repeating crap you heard some other ignorant person say. There have been NO studies that link K2 to suicide even CORRELATIVELY, let alone CAUSALLY. Again, in the absence of ALL drugs, this person would have killed himself that day anyway. And i don't necessarily blame the parents, i listed a whole list of HUMANS that could be at fault or at CAUSE for this item, but inanimate objects do not CAUSE things to happen, they rest in the last location left by a human.

Re: “Iowa teen David Rozga smokes K2, freaks out and commits suicide

Nathaniel johnson: When a drunk driver wrecks his car and kills other people its ALCOHOL'S fault right? Not the drunk idiot. Its CAUSED by ALCOHOL. THE alcohol MADE him drink it, by threatening his life, then the alcohol MADE him go driving by threatening to kill him if he didn't go driving while drunk. Then the alcohol MADE him swerve and wreck. Right? It was all the alcohol's doing, and in the absence of alcohol, there would never be a traffic accident right? WRONG.

HIS PARENTS DID A HORRIBLE JOB RAISING HIM, THEY DIDN'T TEACH HIM TO MAKE GOOD CHOICES, THUS HE MADE *BAD* CHOICES. BUT *HE* made those choices, not the K2. There's probably a list as long as my arm of class comedians who have committed suicide, that's meaningless dribble.

when suicide is concerned the ONLY thing to blame is PEOPLE because other things are inanimate objects incapable of action or causation. The PEOPLE usually at cause for a suicide are the person themselves, their love partner/interest, family, and friends. THAT'S IT! One of those *PEOPLE* *CAUSED* this suicide. It sure as hell wasn't an inanimate object with no causal powers. Regardless of how much your emotion wants to blame the inanimate object in the drunk's hand for how belligerent he is, its NOT the alcohol's fault its the PERSON.

Re: “Iowa teen David Rozga smokes K2, freaks out and commits suicide

Stop giving inanimate object causal power. They cannot CAUSE anything, they are inanimate objects. It did not hold a gun to his head and force him to injest it, it DID NOT force him to kill himself that was a choice HE made. If K2, spice etc NEVER EXISTED this punk STILL WOULD HAVE KILLED HIMSELF, it would have just been ALCOHOL or some other substance that got the blame then, because our society can't seem to blame the ANIMATE person, instead of the INANIMATE object for causing things to happen. THIS SUICIDE IS THE FAULT OF THE PERSON AND OF THE PARENTS AND HAS *NOTHING* To do with availability of drugs. Even if NO drugs existed PERIOD, this person STILL WOULD HAVE COMMITTED SUICIDE.
