Ah, screw it. Put KU in the NBA and make it official.
Wow, I had a Google alert set up alerting me to articles featuring the phrases "penthouse" and "aaron barnhart.". Imagine my disappointment, although I wish mr barnhart would share more of his private correspondence. That said, team alan, etc, etc...
@ Chimpo:
I wish I were that optimistic about Butler. But he has, what, a track record of 600 abs and an obs hovering at around 700.
Now, does he deserve another year of at least 300-400 abs. Sure, because unless Kiaahue really impresses after 9/1, we don't have another alternative from within the system.
@ Paul
I guess that's my point and this isn't a criticism of Moore -- man, if we're talking about Kiaahue and Bianchi as our blue-chip impact 2009 rookies, we're screwed.
That said, Moore does appear to have dough to sign amateur draft picks and probably one more bat next season.
And you're dead-on about Gathright, Buck (and I think) Teahen -- of the three, only the latter is valuable and I suspect only as a 3bman.
@ Paul:
"Two, Beltran didn't want to be here. Why do I so often feel the need to explain the basic principle of free agency? He can probably make .5 mil doing a hot dog commercial for a local NY chain, versus 25k for a KC furniture store. Lord knows everybody needs more furniture. News flash: Not everybody thinks KC is the bees knees."
Not true, Paul. Now, I do think that his agent Boras would have preferred he didn't sign here as his free agency became imminent, but I do think at the time of 2002 the Royals could have signed him -- in fact, there are rumors that Baird and Beltran agreed on a deal and the Glass family reneged.
@ Chimpo:
And Ross Gload? He actually might be Kevin Keitzman's favorite player. He hustles and does the little things. Which does not include, say, hitting.
DAMMIT. Thanks, Mike.
Mike:
How about: "I was in the hot tub. Of COURSE it Tony Pena Juniored!"
Re: “Jason Whitlock still works for the Star, has very generous vacation plan”
Doesn't he take an extended vacation every year. I just assumed it was his way to avoid writing about baseball.
