Re: “77 South - Dining and Lounge Experience

The place on troost retained the name and was turned in to a strip joint. Finally closed in the late 80's. I recall the girls wore bandaids instead of pasties. They were the regular size bandaids and a couple of the girls could have used those knee size bandaids, in more ways than one.

Re: “Andrew Luck is a bigger man than you (and that includes you, Nick Wright)

Joe Tone,
I've got to admit I've been on the fence with you as the new editor of the Pitch. For starters, your name sounds made up. I hate change, and frankly I'd grown accustomed to the weekly angry lesbian ultra liberal rants of C J the old editor. After reading some of your stuff over the past couple of months you were slowly winning me over. After reading this, I'm ready to jump on the Joe (prolly made up name) Tone bandwagon. Anyone who can use the word Fuck 15 times in one paragraph without it coming off as gratuitous over-usage of such a fine word is all right by me. So welcome to Kansas City.

Re: “Only 26, Markus Lee beat three murder charges in eight years - and the cops are still chasing

I'm trying to find the part of the article where the writer glorifies this guy. His life doesn't sound too glorious. He will be dead or in prison for life before he is 30. Nobody to blame but himself. He seems to be smart and articulate, full of wasted potential, on a short path to an early demise. Readers got a glimpse into the mindset of a section of society far removed from their own. Great story. Too bad most of the reader comments missed the point.

I'm trying to figure out how the writer/Pitch is glorifying this guys life. His life sounds like a long hard road to prison or the graveyard, one of his own making. Nothing admirable or glorified in that. Great piece Nadia.

Re: “Lawrence man accused of beating girlfriend with full beer cans

Could have killed her, lucky for her it was light beer.

Re: “Five ways your servers bug the shit out of you

Funny how all of these "Top Shelf" servers have got their aprons in a wad over points Ferruzza made about "Bad Servers". I agree with the author, nobody wants to be served by an unkempt, unclean, too familiar waitress or waiter. Seems like a no brainer to me. I'd also add that a good server needs a good attitude, not seeing much of that in the comments. Just a bunch of pissy hash slingers who think bringing food to a table is right up there with rocket science and heart surgery.
You carry plates of food for a living, ease up on the offended sensibilities shtick.

Re: “The St. Regis Hotel: Fit for a Queen

If I remember correctly the Jewel Box second location was right about where Wendys now sits just south of 31st on Main. Pink building covered in glitter. There were actually 2 bars connected to one another, The Jewel Box and the Pink Garter. I was just in my early teens, but I recall walking past it and they had framed photos of the performers on the front of the building. For the longest time I was under the impression they had some of the ugliest strippers south of 12th street. I didn't know they were Chicks with Kickstands until shortly before it switched over to a straight strip club. Sadly, the real women were just as manly as the fake ones.
