A fungus in Joplin? I thought the legislature met in Jeff City!
For 82% of residents public transportation is infeasible; for another 16% it's undesireable; and there you have the 2% for whom it is an absolute necessity. And there you have the story of public transporation in the KC metro.
Nice picture of Kris Kobach attached to this article! What could possibly go wrong?
And just this morning, Deputy Chief Ritter is quoted as saying the KCPD is "the nation's best". Of course, this was in the context of warding off local control so that results or accountability could be kept at bay. With two murders every single week of the year in a town of only 480K population, it's difficult to understand what criteria is used to determine what "best" is.
Hope the new administration is much moe serious about public safety than this would indicate and that someone is closely monitoring the effectiveness of the upcoming community policing effort so that it doesn't become just the latest superficial dog-and-pony show like most of the other "initiatives" over the years.
Isn't the name "Camping" a rather unfortunately ironic one for someone who is so homophobic!
With all the McClatchey newspapers closing around the country, you have to wonder what all these "promotions" to the headquarters actually do.
And of course, Brisbane is now the public editor at the "New York Times".
Re: “Kansas City Mayor Sly James wants the Los Angeles Lakers, not an expansion NBA (or NHL) franchise”
Sly seems to spend an awful lot of time worrying about NFL lockouts, baseball All Star games, and NBA franchises. Someone needs to tell him he ran for mayor in KCMO, not sports commissioner. How about murders, streets, housing, and the water department?
