Re: “Jeremiah Morris collapsed and died after competing in last weekend's Warrior Dash

I feel very bad for the people who have been hurt by the event or the family of Jeremiah.  I signed up with a friend months ago because we felt reassured by the website and by doing research into other 'mud races' that this was the easiest as compared to ones such as Spartan or Tough Mudder.  It seemed at the time like a good one to start out with and then work your way up.  I had planned on running each day but obviously it just was not in the cards as it has been way too hot.  So, I thought it was not a good idea to try and do so.  I probably could have done so in the morning.  What I hate seeing is on their FB page a lot of people blaming the runners who didn't prepare because in all honesty, the website does premote this as an event that anyone can do.  They basically push it as 'just run as much as you can each day for a couple weeks out and you'll be ready'.  So, I would have to say overall the blame goes to the parent organization but not to those really on the ground or the volunteers let alone those who run.  A corporation sometimes has to step in and say if people are really getting injured to the point of paralyzed & it is so hot that people are in a severe danger then we need to make sure everyone knows either the extreme risk that they are taking or pull the plug all together.

But good for you and the part that you played.  It's always good to volunteer for something like this even when the parent organization shows a lack of good judgement.

Re: “Kanrocksas stages and set times announced

EXACTLY!  If you think the weather sucks now just imagine what it's going to be like during the festival...on a speedway.  UGH.  All that just to see a band play for barely an hour then switch off.  People puking and passing out all over.  You can have it.  A fool and their money are soon parted.

Re: “Should restaurants actually ban children?

I love the argument of "Oh you'll never see a DIME from me!!"  Think about it, couples or groups that can hear themselves and enjoy a conversation would probably spend more on drinks, appetizers, etc.  A family is on a budget and expecting to pay hardly a dime on their kid's meal anyways. I think your cheap money lost on a brat that you want to eat for free would not tank a restaurant.  Stay at home, cook for them and perhaps they won't get so fat anyways.

Re: “Should restaurants actually ban children?

Oh and make the parents pay for the entire meal + tip before they go (eaten or un-eaten).  That will get the parents to learn to teach the kids some table manners before taking them out again.  That was how it was done when I was a kid.  You KNEW how to behave before you went out and it didn't require being beaten or anything else.  Just a tone of voice.

Re: “Should restaurants actually ban children?

Let them in and then kick them & their parents out when the kids act up & their parents act like nothing is wrong.  Simple.  Bad parenting is usually what is wrong.  You separate the good parents from the bad ones.  I don't mind kids in general but I HATE screaming kids when the parents don't do something about it.  That goes for grocery stores or any public place.  This environment of 'time out' has got to go.  It isn't working regardless of what British TV nannies are telling these so-called parents.
