Fourthed on Froot Loops. Had some in Ames, IA on my birthday years ago and thought it was a joke. That said, it's a great summer beer if you like fruit flavors. A bit of orange slice in there helps to cut down the "artificial fruit (FROOT) flavors" taste.
Metcalf is less like Troost and more like Independence Ave.
Not sure where this guy is getting his logic. Not as many bands touring anymore? Huh? I'd say the logic is reversed; the number of people coming out for shows has dropped dramatically, but bands are still out there doing what they've always done, regardless of gas prices. It's likely that they're asking for too much for guarantees, and promoters are realizing what a town like Lawrence can realistically provide.
Also, the last thing Lawrence, Kansas needs is such wildly unique entertainment options as a "townie pool bar". C'mon. Next thing you know, you'll have such culturally enriching events as "Wing Wednesdays" and "Ladies Night Thursdays". COME ON.
"The number of bands touring has declined significantly." Huh? I'll say the number of people actually showing up for shows has probably declined significantly, but right now, there are approximately 138,572 kids climbing into some crappy van to go play a show.
Also, if there's anything Lawrence, KS needs, it's another "townie bar" with really unique entertainment options like pool tables, dart boards, and bar food. Hell, let's get wild and throw in some touch screen games at the bar, and maybe make Wednesday nights a "Ladies Night"?
Agreed with Robert about Tortoise.
Also missing:
-The Ventures (I love Shadowy Men, but they owe some massive debts to the Ventures)
-Five Style/Heroic Doses (any Bill Dolan bands)
-Budos Band are also currently making amazing records.
SLOAN=one of my favorite bands ever.

Re: “The Crystal Castles show at Liberty Hall on Tuesday has been canceled”
Stay at home and play Nintendo with a strobe light on. BOOM. I just saved you 50 bucks.
