Wow, I'm 46 years old and I don't get the human wreckage spin??? Jes-s, we did sh-t MUCh worse than that in my Frat every weekend! I was stoked for something out there and all I got was a camera at a frat kegger...
Oh you mean this line:
The band is also rumored to be a bunch of assholes.
or this...
It's Sour Patch Kids candy for the ears.
or maybe
It's kind of a Panic at the Disco story in which the big break comes before the band has much to show besides aspirations.
Is that the "f-ck ya RT rocks, can't wait to see you on ABC" kind of good vibe you're talking about?
gotcha.

Interesting that you write the lines below about Republic Tigers after signing to a startup label to a sublabel of Warner Records:
Fuckin' A! Go Tigers! We'll look forward to hearing your fine homegrown jams on ABC in the near future. Or wherever. You guys rock.
Actually RT are good, they don't Rock however they accoust...So I started looking back for that congratulatory story when Josephine Collective signed to the parent label, Warner...Still looking...
If you really want to see a band rock, come to the Record Bar Dec. 22nd @ 8:00 p.m. for the JoCo show!
Hey Crystal,
Thanks soooooo much for the continued free JoCo Pub, that's awesome! Get signed by Warner, get no mention, bash the aged and they get 4 days of press, sweet!!!
BTW, I noticed in the issue before last you had the Pitch Music Awards...
Best band - Architects
Best Singer - Architects
Best Show - Architects
Best New Band - Architects Lite (Sex Police something, just remember it's 3 members of you guessed it, the Architects)
Band Member Dating Crystal Wiebe - Guitarist for the Architects.
No idea where these kids could perceive that the Pitch scene is old and tired given the above diversity...However, as kids that was soooo two weeks ago and today they are doing sound checks with The Used in Orlando.
I did appreciate Meagans' article from November 23, 2006 where she said
"Ten years ago, the under-21 musical landscape wasn't anything like it is now. Instead of kids checking out screamo bands with melodramatic names like To Kill Me So That I Might Bleed in fly-by-night venues resembling abandoned warehouses, yesterday's punk and ska acts filled legitimate all-ages clubs..."
Weren't you busting on JoCo for disparaging today's "scene"? So Megan gets a free pass because she write for the Pitch??
Or is it that "old school" mentality that has you guys sitting around lamenting about how back in the day everything was better??
After seeing the results of the Pitch Insider's Music Awards, I have to say that perception is reality...
Best Band - The Architects
Best New Band - Sex Police (A band started by 3 of the Architects)
Best Singer - The Architects
Best Live Act - The Architects
So if your 30 and belong to the Architects or Architects Lite your good to go??
If these awards are going to continue to center only on the "KC band click" and the same talent reshuffled, why not set up an Under 21 category where there is a whole lot of fresh talent, instead of completely ignoring them?
Re: “Josephine Collective disbands”
Crystal you serious? The Pitch need only look in the mirror to find THE source of the backlash...
The Pitch came across as a bunch of Architects groupies or ex girlfriends that hated the fact that some punk a-- kids got signed to Warner at 18, and the band came across as what they were 18 year old kids!
Just taking a look at other bands handling in their local scene (The Maine, Anberlin, Forever the Sickest Kids etc.) showed me the importance of local support. But forget about it when you can pimp David Cook...
Kent Garrison from FTSK put up on his Twiiter a couple days ago "the most underated band of all time - Josephine Collective, Johnson County KS"
All time is a stretch, but they definitely had to go to Dallas, Buffalo or Pensacola, not KC to get support.
Sad to see the ride end, hopeful there is more to come.
