Re: “Kansas Rep. Pete DeGraaf: Being impregnated during a rape is just like getting a flat tire

Yes, they are. I really just meant that since I grew up in the Episcopal church, I have always identified myself as an Episcopalian, rather than just a Christian, even though I would technically be both. The church that I grew up in is very openminded about things, and I feel like I identify with the people there, even though we may have varying beliefs about different parts of our religion.

I guess what I meant to convey was not that I literally am not Christian but am Episcopalian, but rather I feel more at home under the title of Episcopalian, even though I may question some of the teachings. It's sort of confusing to try and explain, but I hope I did okay.

Are you serious? That is messed up. Yeah, we'd love to just lay back and enjoy someone violently ramming their dick inside our genitals with generally no concern as to our well being or comfort. Let's just cross out fingers and home the rapist doesn't kill us afterward! Or should we try to enjoy our stab wounds too?

Sorry...I don't mean to seem like I'm getting mad at you...this article just got me all pissy.

I'm the same way. Christianity just feels like a tainted word nowadays. I would tell someone I'm Christian and they'd instantly make all kinds of assumptions about my opinions, and then they would start attacking my beliefs, or at least they ones they assumed I had. I just got tired of feeling like I had to defend myself left and right. "You're Christian, is that right? So why don't you people support gays? Gay people are people too." Relax dude. I'm bi, myself. Just calm down.

Lately I've just been referring to myself as "religious", though I was raised Episcopalian and generally I think I identify more with Episcopalians than I do with Christians, which sounds like it wouldn't make sense, but it does in my head, haha...
