Re: “Best Breakfast

Are you serious? This was one of the worst meals my wife and I have had and my wife loves going out for breakfast, so we have a lot to compare to. Making a bad breakfast takes a special kind of talent, and Cook Shack Cafe has it. I had coffee, Ribeye omlet, hash browns, and toast. The butter on the toast tasted oily/cheap. The ribeye had a horrible marrinade (God I hope the funky taste was from a marrinade) and so much fat/grissle, I gave up on it. The hash browns were okay and so was the coffee. My wife had bisquits and gravy. The saussage in the gravy tasted like it was from a can, and the gravy had no flavor. Not even adding salt and pepper helped. Her potatoes were okay.
I should have known what I was in for when the writer of this article compares this place to McDonalds, but justifies Cook Shack charging more since the food is brought to you.

Re: “Best Homegrown Product

It would have been really helpful to let the readers know that they can usually find Boyle's at local KC groceries stores; not at the address you provided in the published article.

Re: “Dishing a Platte City couple's delicious secret

Yes, Yes, and Yes. I agree with it all. One of my personal favorites. The food is sophisticated and justifies the price, yet the desert will remind you of grandma's and leave you relaxed and satisfied. The home brings it all together with the creaky floorboards, yet fine dinning atmosphere.

Re: “Old Softy

I always have a hard time telling if The Pitch movie reviewers ever like a movie. I think the struggle can be found in the extremely long, wordy reviews that do little more than show the writers' use of their Word of the Day calendar. Maybe The Pitch could benefit from having someone other than an English Lit grad do the reviews. Bikram yoga seriously? Ill have to try it out to see if people there truly show a physical challenge better than Bruce Willis did. I'm sorry to say, but I can't relate.
I really liked Live Free or Die Hard. It was very entertaining and although a couple of action scenes were borderline unbelievable, there were lots of Wow moments. The movie had plenty of good punch lines without seeming slapstick. I liked the villain, and it felt refreshing not having to see bullets pass through a body in slow motion with blood shooting out like a fire hydrant (we get the picture). I wasnt sure if a Die Hard movie could be PG-13, but I was not shortchanged when I left the theater.

Re: “Thai Tales

Hi Charles,

Thank you so much for your review on The Thai Place. It is by far, my most favorite restaurant in town. It was my last supper before I had my wisdom teeth removed (you know, in case I dont make it out of surgery), and the first solid food I ate afterwards (holes in my mouth won't stop me). I moved to Kansas City about 8 years ago and if I should ever move, it will be my greatest heartache to give up. It is the perfect date place since the food is excellent, the prices are great (although the northland is more expensive - I'm not sure if the others have also gone up), and the looks are sophisticated (the flowers pay off). If I had to find fault with the new restaurant, I would say that their interpretation for how spicy food should be is a lot higher than the other restaurants.

Thank you for letting me include my two cents,
Steve
