Re: “Carb stomping through a month of KC's tastiest two-handers

Here's one you or Charles need to check out:
La Hamburguesa Loca, 3009 Independence Ave, Kansas City, MO 64124
https://www.facebook.com/LaHamburguesaLoca

Everything we've had there has been good to excellent. First time I've ever had a burger with a slice of ham on it. I was a little skeptical, but it tasted really good. We try to eat there once a week.

Address is incorrect, should be:

Re: “Pig & Finch claims to have 'The Best Fried Chicken EVER!' It isn't.

Charles, 2 thumbs up for the DJ Qualls reference.

Re: “What's the one restaurant, barbecue excluded, that represents KC?

Bunch of elitist triflers! Craig Glazer is local and homegrown too, would you inflict him on unsuspecting out-of-town dilettantes?

Strouds grub is from a time when Kansas City was riding high. a time when men where men, women were either demure or floozies, cops were on the take and real drinks were made with rye.

Re: “What's the one restaurant, barbecue excluded, that represents KC?

Strouds, hands down.

I still miss the road house on 85th, great ambience.

BTW, WTF? The self-serving ad disguised as a comment by Craig Glazer should be deleted or ignored. Check out their reviews on Yelp. Hey, is it Stamford or Stanford? Never mind, it sucks spelled either way.

Re: “Streetside: New jazz spot the Green Lady Lounge arrives in the Crossroads

"Contributing to the block's overall sleaziness, an underground sex club reportedly operated, until recently, in the alley behind Balanca's."

Really? There was a space that rented was out to different alternative lifestyle groups, but I'm unaware of a "sex club" anywhere in the vicinity. Other than that, I can't disagree with much else you say about Balanca's.

Good luck to Mr. Scott; this town can use a laid back jazz lounge.

Good luck also to Lori; let's hope running a neighborhood bar will be a lot less stressful than running Balanca's.

Re: “How much is too much for a draft beer?

I remember going into a tavern and getting a "short beer", usually eight ounces, just enough to wet your whistle on the way home from work. With a nickle tip it set you back 30¢. Twenty-five years earlier a stink was raised in Milwaukee when the price of a nickle beer increased to 10¢.
Last time I ordered a shot and a short beer, they looked at me like I was from another planet.
And so it goes...
