Too bad the Zócalo-Frida partnership didn't work out... maybe. I love Frida's because it reminds me of dining at a nice restaurant in Mexico, but Guadalajara Café hasn't impressed us at all.
BTW, the Spanish word "zócalo" translates as base, plinth, pedestal or platform. Legend has it that long ago, a monument was planned for the main plaza in Mexico City but it never got beyond the erection of the base, which stood there for some time; people began referring to that area as "the base" and by the time the base was removed, the name had already caught on. Nowadays, by extension, the major plaza in any Mexican city is often referred to as the "el zócalo."
