This is incredibly upsetting. While the venue itself was pretty crappy (at best), it seemed to be one of the only venues who booked many of the mid-level national acts. Enjoyed most of the shows I attended there and the backyard was always a good time. Looks like I'll be making the drive to Lawrence a lot more often..
Extremely well written article. I moved here a year and a half ago for a job and didn't know a soul, so I can relate to this on so many levels. Especially the "very friendly, but overly welcoming" piece. I have met a lot of friends through work/my adventures, but I still feel like I haven't found that "niche" group of friends yet. Keep on fighting the good fight and good luck in LA!
Just got a bottle from Hyvee on Barry Rd by St. Lukes Northland hospital. They had a few cases left so if you can get there ASAP you may be able to get one. Hyvee on NW 64th street and 29 was sold out. The HyVee on North Oak and Englewood wasn't getting theirs until later today, around 4. Also stopped at Red X in Riverside- they aren't getting their shipment until Thursday but they are doing a waiting list so you can call and get on that.
Re: “Kanrocksas has announced its first three acts”
While I'm excited to see the Avett Brothers and Kendrick Lamar, they better have kept their headliners in their pocket. With that said, I anxiously anticipate the rest of the lineup!
