I feel like weighing in on this... I am a hip hop artist from Columbia Missouri, I played the Festival and met the young man in question here. I thought he was an upstanding individual with a lot of the same viewpoints I have. I am also incredibly sad that I will never see him when I play Kansas City again. I have done a few shows with The Phantom as well, and he is also a very well spoken young man with a lot of talent. The racist peice of shit making these comments about him 'terrorizing' somewhere... lol, that cracked me up. That's the only funny thing about any of this though. The hip hop show that went on that night was peaceful, and a very good time. I know this because I was there, sober, and kind of one of the people who made sure things went smooth. Hip hop is under attack like this everywhere, that is a given. People group the 'Underground' sound with the 'hood' sound all the time. This happens when they know nothing, and want to know nothing. Not knocking the 'hood' sound at all, but anyone who knows hip hop knows what I'm saying. It's two completely different genre's anymore. And I can also tell you that Kansas City's Hip hop scene is thriving and looks like it's improving everytime I play there. Not the classic days, but promising none the less. And that is something to be proud of. UNLIKE the tasteless picture this writer for some reason picked to replace the MUGSHOT they originally used?!?!?!? REALLY?
ps. If I was a family member... that picture of a gun blowing someone's head off, would piss me off more than the mugshot.
