If these buildings were as important to people and neighborhoods as they are claimed to be, there would have been efforts made to save them, and make them reusable long before they became a danger to humans. And certainly long before they became eligible for demolition by the city. This is nothing more than a neighborhood of people that only care enough to cause commotion when the time suits them, and has nothing to do with the value of a building. The fact is, yes old buildings are pretty, and they have their place in history, but with nobody willing to dump money into them to keep from become dilapidated, then nobody can turn around and claim they cared enough later, when the building becomes unsafe and gets torn down.
