> I had a friend during that time named Steve Mitchell, but it was in 1970 to the mid-to-late 1970s. He was childhood best friends with a friend of mine who lived in my neighbourhood in West Independence near 31st & Hardy Avenue.
> The Steve Mitchell I knew grew up down in East Kansas City between 27th Street & I-70 on Poplar, Chelsea, or Wenzel... I cannot remember.
> He also had a cousin with whom I was in a band in 1970 & 1971 named Tom. Tom was three years younger than I.
> Steve had really long hair back then, and I consider him the best guitar player from Kansas City that I have ever heard to this day. He could play anything acoustic or electric & heavy; and, like me, loved the late-1960s to mid-1970s really hard stuff by BLACK SABBATH, URIAH HEEP, LED ZEPPELIN, et al.
> I was in a band with him briefly in 1971 or 1972. There was Steve, a drummer nicknamed 'Spider' who lived East of Van Brunt and up the hill near 27th & Van Brunt, myself, and a bass player who's name I do not recollect.
> I remember we sounded good because they were such good musicians.
> I saw Steve many times between 1970 and 1973; then a number of times in the mid-1970s. The last time I saw him was briefly in early 1990 when he lived in Independence.
