Why does the Pitch seem to have a monthly update on what is going on at Peanches? In this article the owner has gone out of his way to assure you that he will probably have an attitude with you and you can expect poor service if you show up without a reservation. So nothing has changed. Surely there are thousands of more noteworthy events/changes going on in Kansas City area restaurants!
Aren't the streetcars going to short out when they hit those big metal plates covering all the roads? Maybe we better spend our money fixing our underground utility lines first!!!
We have soooo many buses and the only way for them to be cheaper would be to give free rides which is how they plan to compete with the streetcar. It seems to me that a trolly that looked like a streetcar would have a much more flexible route and much less expense.
While driving a car, streetcars kind of freak me out. I recently drove around in New Orleans and Memphis and it seemed like driving over those tracks was probably hard on my tires - yet I hit those metal plates around Kc often as well. If people get used to streetcars being able to stop they might think all trains can do that! I am quite sure streetcars will make it even more of a fiasco to drive downtown.
Will the Crown Center still be a destination tourist attraction 20 years from now? These things come and go. Spend a million dollars buying a few trolleys and let people ride free if that's your thing and see how it goes. If the hood takes them over or if people don't ride them then sellout and cut your losses.
But I realize it already passed and since I don't spend much money down there the sales tax doesn't really affect me. Hopefully it will push more people to the Plaza and Westport rather than being another city-funded crowd killer for those areas.
Get rid of half of the menu that has the fewest sellers, with what's left get rid of the items that slow down the kitchen too much, and make sure what's left is amazing and truly unique.
"Casual American with a lot of English influences". That sounds promising. However "pizzas, burgers, pot roast, pasta dishes and sandwiches" seem like typical All-American Bar Food - i.e. we copied the oversized menu of a bar down the street that looks like it makes money. If you chase too many rabbits you won't catch any of them!!!!
Even though the Sheraton is able to get away with stealing $15 for a Belgian Waffle, traditional coffee drinkers (not talking about Starbucks customer base) are the most fickle and demanding customers when it comes to raising prices. They would rather pay $2 more for an omelet than another quarter for their coffee. I would hate to be the first restaurant to charge for coffee refills!!
Goatsee - Subway in the '90s printed their signs on a dot matrix printer and cut the letters out by hand? Maybe there is hope for Peanches after all since he is following in Subway's footsteps. Seems to me that Pete is following in the deranged footsteps of Freddy Kruger.
No way would I consider opening a restaurant at P&L or on the Plaza. Rent is too high!
Re: “Houlihan's”
Typical franchise food like Applebee's.
