Why in the world wasn't he carrying it in a holster? This reminds me of the ATF agent that shot himself while demonstrating firearm safety.

I also cringe because a story like this gets every ones attention because it happens so rarely. The stories of people stopping crimes with their firearms, which happens many times every hour, gets much less attention. Many times it isn't even reported.
