Re: “Jabulani Leffall is tired of being on someone else's time

You replace a known commodity with a known commodity. Walt Bodine was a known commodity for great broadcasting in Kansas City before he went to KCUR.

This guy might have qualified to be interviewed but no way should have been considered a finalist for the job.

I’ll just be blunt. He was hired because he was black. He wasn’t hired because he was the best available talent. I can name a half dozen other people in Kansas City who were better qualified to host the show and available to do so – and one of them is Ken James who I enjoyed working with at KMBZ.

Social engineering for booking communications talent produces little success and impact. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar this week stated it perfectly reviewing race selection for talent in the HBO show Girls:

“I don’t believe that people of color, sexual preference, or gender need to be shaken indiscriminately into every series like some sort of exotic seasoning. If the story calls for a black character, great…But this really seemed like an effort was made to add some color—and it came across as forced.”
