Re: “Engineering firms, construction companies and contractors plowing big money into KCMO water bond election

James,

Not really. They have to replace all that stuff anyway. Wouldn't it make more sense to do it while the city's digging through all that pavement for the streetcar?

Re: “Cordish gets millions in taxpayer money to build its new apartments in Power & Light District

Aunt Midge,

There's nothing in the story that's "for" or "against" One Light. In fact, I mention in the story that there's a good policy decision on the face of it to bring residents downtown, given all the investment made there and the fact it needs people to spend their money downtown to make it all work. But it's also important to point out how much in public resources, which are finite, go to Cordish to make these projects happen. Generally speaking, a dollar used downtown is a dollar that cannot be used somewhere else. Shouldn't people know how taxpayer money is being spent?

To your broader point, you might check out our "Best of Kansas City" edition that gets printed every year, which discusses the cool things about the city people should know about and check out. Aside from that, we're not really in the business of "telling" people what they should like or dislike about Kansas City. Instead, we point out what's going on (see our recent cover story on the Hickman Mills School District, for an example). People can make their own decisions. If you want to read a cheerleader, there's certainly other media in this town that can provide that.

Thanks for reading and offering your thoughts,

Re: “Jack Cashill is investigating the missing Malaysian Airlines plane, already has a conspiracy theory

I don't necessarily dismiss the TWA theory. I just don't understand the connection to Malaysian Airlines when the general public knows so little about what happened in the current case. With TWA, people at least understood there was an explosion and went from there.

The TWA conspiracy theory has some very compelling elements to it, although I must admit that I thought the body of evidence shown in the documentary that came out about it last year was less than convincing.

Re: “New poll says Sam Brownback trailing Paul Davis

Black Jack,

While you're telling others to stay on topic, why don't you heed your own advice? This story is about a gubernatorial race in Kansas, not some stunt going on in Missouri.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Re: “Belton man complains to KSHB that investing in people dying isn't getting him rich

Andrew,

I noticed it for the first time yesterday when the link was shown on Twitter. The folks who run the company that sells these investment schemes went on trial Monday.
