Re: “Is delivering food our latest unsafe job?

I delivered pizzas for Domino's and Pizza Hut in the late 80's and early 90's. In '88 or '89 Domino's opened their 4000th U.S. store on N. Oak Trfwy. OF the 4000 Domino's in the U.S. at the time, the top 3 for robberies were all in Kansas City. I was robbed at gunpoint 4 times, once in broad daylight. At one store I worked at we had an older gentleman, in his 60's, who delivered for us. One night he was taking a delivery and several young men beat him with baseball bats AFTER he gave them the money. Bill Maher once mentioned, on his FIRST show, about some kids in NYC who ordered a pizza and shot & killed the driver just to find out what it was like to kill someone.

Delivery has ALWAYS been a dangerous job. I've been unemployed for 3 years until recently. I've taken any job I could get, including bussing tables, but delivery is one thing I have NOT considered b/c, frankly, I don't need that kind of fear and worry in my life anymore.
