Re: “Kansas City Council hastily changes ordinance to close Lyft loophole

While the loophole closure is a tad overreaching and could use a little massaging, I think this is a necessary law.

There have been several instances of crime related to these programs in other cities. They may say they do background checks, but they don't. There isn't enough time. Some of the drivers have been felons convicted of violent crimes and at least one assault and a stalking have been linked to Lyft and Uber. And it's just beyond foolish for anyone to pick up a complete stranger. You have no idea who's in your car, regardless of what they tell the dispatcher. There is no regulation and these folks are not insured to carry commercial passengers. There is a high potential for insane amounts of damage. The drivers are not bonded, and the cars don't have to pass inspections.

Re: “Meet Charles Macheers, the man behind the pro-discrimination bill in Kansas

This is filed as news? When I read a news article, I expect to read facts, not biased personal opinion. News used to be about enumerating the facts on both sides of an issue. Now, instead of allowing people to make up their own minds about a situation, we are told what we should think about it. This is not news. This is op-ed at best, and political propaganda at worst. You are spewing insults from a podium, and it's not OK.
