      <![CDATA[At the time of this verdict, I remember reading a more detailed account of the facts. Apparently, McDonalds had exceeded their own standards in how hot the coffee should be and had received numerous complaints about the excessive temperature but did nothing to abate the problem.

      <![CDATA[I read somewhere--John Stossel, I think--that prior to this case, McDonald's had actually done surveys to determine how hot their coffee should be. The applicable survey indicated that most drive-through customers (which I believe Liebeck was) aren't going to drink the coffee in the car, but when they reach their destination.
