<![CDATA[Having just returned from an epic culinary trip through our nation's capitol, I'm very thankful for Kansas City as far as the "no indoor voice" folks are concerned. We definitely have it better here than large cities, at least in my experience.

<![CDATA[Just a point of order -- the first amendment does not protect the kind of rude behavior exhibited by the woman at the restaurant, any more than it protects the person who yells "fire!" in a crowded theater for fun. The first amendment protects us against the *government* regulating what we can and can't say, not what a restaurant proprietor will allow in her/his establishment.

<![CDATA[One night we were in a Thai restaurant on Martway and the diner at the next table was a realtor, seated by herself, who spent the entire course of her meal on her phone trying to sell a particular house in Prairie Village - at a very high volume level. Everyone in the restaurant could hear every detail including the address, the price, what the seller was willing to negotiate for, etc. They didn't quite applaud when she left, but there were several looks of relief on the faces of our fellow diners.

<![CDATA[Oh, I agree Faith that the lady has First Amendment rights to say whatever she wanted, but her topics -- and the volume -- were a little nerve-wracking. She finally did turn to other subjects -- less unappetizing -- and I was able to eat in peace.
