      <![CDATA[I too remember most of these places, but by far one of my favorites was Wimpy's. I used to walk or bike with friends to Wimpy's to get either the Double Wimpy with everything or the Italian Steak Sandwich!

      <![CDATA[Wimpey's was the bees knees of them all with that great big Italian Steak and the outstanding sauce that adorned it. A bunch of us who worked at Bendix would drive up Troost at lunchtime and eat the Italian Steak in the car while listening to "Pictures of Matchstick Men" and "War" on KUDL.

      <![CDATA[At least 50 years ago, my grandparents would drive us up 40 Hwy all the way from Blue Springs, to get a burger with grilled onions from Earls on Linwood. We would sit in the back seat all the way there, watching the KC Power and Light building top change colors.... fascinating... it was....

      <![CDATA[I dont think anyone in this area thats under 45 yrs of age would remember Smaks. I used to frequent the 95th and Antioch Smak's location .  I remember making monthly car payments at the old Merriam Bank on Roe and stopping in to Waji burgers back in the very early 80s!!
