As someone who has been among a number of people in my neighborhood to call DFS about a young girl, the most you ever see is the child taken out of the home for a day or two. This kid lives with her grandmother part of the time (her mother has a lengthy criminal record ranging from theft to prostitution and drugs).

Meanwhile, the kid has stolen from many of the neighbors, occasionally goes several days without a change of clothes, was caught attempting to molest a younger girl (and was reportedly molested herself by an uncle)and wonders the streets alone long after dark.
