I think Grossman has lost track of the fact that the vast, vast majority of people eat an omnivorous diet (even though he quotes percentages in his article).

If I were to go to Jack Stack's with friends for dinner, I would already be under the impression that it's going to be salad and bread for dinner, possibly a few other sides I deem appropriate for my diet.

My vegan friends are also not one to complain either so I'm not sure a statement like, "...vegans are the first to complain...," applies to me.

While I agree that this may be a lifestyle choice for most people, be it for personal, health or spiritual reasons, I also agree with the article in that most dining establishments can prepare vegan/vegetarian meals as long as ONE ASKS.

It's the diner's responsibility to ensure they relay any allergy/dietary restrictions to their server for their chef to prepare a meal cooked with attention and most of all, love.
