And I have to agree with Dreadpirate82 - Midway has a great food selection including Potbelly, Gold Coast Dogs for the classic Chicago dog, Nuts on Clark for a snack, and believe it or not, Haray Caray's has a solid breakfast.

KCI is a wonderful home airport, as long as you don't get stuck on a delay.

As for good airport food, I like Terminal 2 at O'Hare and Midway's options in Chicago, though that could be because I grew up near there.  Terminal C at Newark supposedly has good food, but I haven't been through there.  Terminal E at IAH is also good, and Hobby isn't too bad; you MUST go to Pappas Burger there.

That being said, having spent hours at airports in Grand Rapids, MI and Appleton, WI...there is always a worse airport eating experience.

There are options as KCI (MCI), just not a bunch.  And it is difficult because it is difficult to get from one terminal to another, so you can't try something that may be in another terminal.  That is just the way it will alway be until it becomes a hub, which it probably never will because it is too small.  KCI is a business destination, and a departure point, so there is really not a big market for feeding people (i.e. not a lot of layovers).

Give it a few years, and WYCO will build a bigger and better airport, and once again Missouri will loose another tax generator.
