I'll have to try Blues Hog, but in the mean time, I must admit that I do like KCMP on a good thick grilled pork steak. I grill it over low heat, with butter-beer-vinegar "sauce" until it is almost done, then turn up the heat (open the vents) and add the kcmp. The sauce carmelizes, and is really pretty good on the pork steak. I must admit that pork steaks are the only time that I use this sauce though. I have other sauces I use on other cuts of meat. Like I said, I'll give Blues Hog a try.

In consumer reports defense, they are not just catering to BBQ towns/cities. My parents live in a small town, and kcmp is about the best they can get... short of making their own. There are a lot of people in the same situation.

Why should CR even be interested in sauces that are hard or impossible for most of its readers to get hold of? That's not what CR is for.

If for some reason you actually eat KC Masterpiece, Blues Hog is a very sweet and far superior substitute....for fries, tenders and things of that nature. In my little world, sauce equals failure to cook truly good bbq, but I DO keep Gates original in the fridge....for when I leave a turkey breast on the smoker for too long or something like that.
