<![CDATA[Thanks Janie. I heard the food at the Gold Buffet was tres lousy (I do love the old newspaper ads for it), but people tell me there wasn't a better venue in town in the day for seeing second-rate acts like "drunk" Foster Brooks or the Ding-A-Ling Sisters or Bobbi Gentry wearing go-go boots.

<![CDATA[Meesha: I'm looking at a 1976 "Menu Guide of Kansas City" with menus from 93 different restaurants; there are only 13 survivors (including Plaza III, Jasper's -- the original Waldo location, of course -- and Golden Ox, Villa Capri, Gates BBQ, Dixon's Chili, Don Chilito's, and The American). I still wish I had made it to The Gold Buffet, but I was too much of a snob, then.
