Q&A: Breathe Owl Breathe on songwriting, recording, and living in a cabin

Last Friday, indie-folk act Breathe Owl Breathe played a set down in the Crossroads at Bridgeport with Continents and Saharan Gazelle Boy. The trio -- a printmaker, a geomorphologist, and a classically trained cellist -- is now back home in northern Michigan, where they live together in a rural cabin they call "Magic Central," which also happens to be the name of their most recent album.

he biggest, sluttiest Halloween parties will likely go down on Halloween Eve (All Hallow's Eve?), since it's a Saturday. But this Sunday the 31st, the RecordBar is hosting a hell of a shindig, with some fine local bands dressed up as their musical idols: Tut Tut as Violent Femmes, the Grisly Hand as Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, and the New Riddim as the Slackers.

Wayward caught up with Conor and Daniel Loftus of the New Riddim last week to discuss the show.
