This member of the Texas-based restaurant chain seems glamorous and palatial by local Mexican-restaurant standards. Its dishes lack drama, though — the ingredients are fresh and the dinners tastefully composed, but theyre not very spicy. Still, diners can expect extravagant portions of enchiladas stuffed with avocado, chile rellenos bursting with crabmeat, and tilapia drenched with honey-lime sauce. The prices are higher than youll find in joints on Southwest Boulevard, but you will feel as if youve dined somewhere elegante. — Charles Ferruzza

I first started eating Abuelo's in Dallas, TX. I fell in love. Its not the traditional Mexican food, which I am in love with. Its one of the few places in KCMO you can get a egg on the side. Great addition to your entree. I am so glad it is here in KC!!
