Accursos 4980 Main, 816-753-0810. Restaurateur Joe Accurso packed up and moved his family photos, his recipes (including his fathers instructions for excellent house-made sausage) and 23 years of memories from a now-razed building at 50th Street and Main and moved a block north. The new, sleek, modern space - a noisy glass-paned box with concrete floors - may lack the cluttered, eccentric charm of the old location, but the food is actually better, thanks to a more expansive kitchen. While not everyone is mad for Accursos slightly sweet tomato marinara, most Midwesterners admire Joes generosity: Dinners still include salads and garlic toast, and the only entrées that cost more than 20 bucks are the steaks and the seafood linguini. And, yes, Joes mother still makes the cheesecake. — Charles Ferruzza

had not been to the new location, looked online almost didn't go, but having had such good food & service the last 2 times I was there thought just go and try myself. So glad. had 2 friends and my wife .OUTSTANDING I ordered something not on menu, the waitress says no problem. wife had a shrimp/pasta very good friends meatballs and pasta super. can't wait to return to KC, will make a special trip just to eat again.
We were here in December with a group of six and had a very pleasant meal, with decent service and a decent price. This is a refreshingly local place in a Plaza area glutted with chain restaurants. John

Great food, one plate is large enough to share with 2 or 3 friends! We went on a Monday and took them up on 1/2 price bottles of wine. Atmosphere is dark and cozy but perfect for a quiet booth with friends.

Until last night, was one of my weeknight favs. Last night, everything was off. Meatballs were like sawdust, the penne; overcooked, the diablo sauce; something was missing from the usual much loved sauce. Friends ordered pasta with cream sauces which were like wall paper paste. One sent hers back, they remade the dish and it improved somewhat. Hopefully they won't loose the original receipes when they move down Main.
