A.I.

Wednesday, September 18, at the Bottleneck.

Though it's a lovely sentiment, the passage get on the bed and put your bootie in the air and spread isn't actually included in the Kama Sutra text, as A.I. claims in "Bottoms Up," the first track from the trio's debut disc. Siblings Nick and Zack Young -- the former on guitars and vocals, the latter on drums and percussion -- and keyboardist Pablo Manzarek (who, like his dad, Ray Manzarek from the Doors, handles bass with the left hand and melody with the right) provide the missing link between Prince and electronica overdrive. A.I. draws on His Royal Badness' lamentably cleansed dirty mind for "Alien Sex," an ode to freakin' it extraterrestrial style that would make Captain Kirk proud.
