One of the first museums in the country devoted exclusively to the jazz art form, it looks at Kansas City's jazz legacy in the 1920s and 1930s around 18th and Vine. Famous talents were often featured in the area, including the George Lee Orchestra accompanied by his sister Julia Lee, Count Basie, Bennie Moten and Charlie Parker. Adjacent to the museum is the Blue Room, an operating jazz club.
