American Scientist

Cory Gene Mayes received his BFA from The University of Kansas in 2010. His ambitious large scale work honors the philosopher and the pure scientist who is exploring the world of ideas, not the world of the senses, and draws from a wide range of influences: diagrams, charts, architectural grids, landscapes, the figure, and The New York School. He has already been included in various important exhibitions including "Illusion, Disillusion, Impression, Reality" at The Spencer Museum of Art, Lawrence, KS and "Essential Not Incidental" at The Pearl Gallery, Kansas City, MO. Mayes was honored with the Ada Bechtel Heuser, Beatrice Bonine, and Hollander Family Foundation awards this year. His current home is Kansas City, MO.
Fri., July 23, 6:30-9 p.m.; Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, 12-4 p.m. Starts: July 23. Continues through Aug. 24, 2010
