Wilderness is less a coup for Sea and Cake fans needing a bump of coolly energetic jazz and more a '70s-hued folk confessional, with Prewitt's lyrics like an open diary — sometimes achingly on point, sometimes embarrassing. Exploring somber situations such as the loss of his father ("O, KY") and romantic disenchantment,
Wilderness' moody reflection comes across best on songs such as "Think Again," in which Prewitt sings,
Feeling that there's something wrong with your days and nights/
