Are You a Literary Idol?

Despite what the name might indicate, Pitchapalooza is not a three-day concert organized by this publication. However, this literary occasion does take cues from another popular musical event. Billed as the American Idol of publishing, Pitchapalooza gives would-be authors an opportunity to pitch their book ideas to a panel of publishing professionals following a presentation by David Henry Sterry, known as the book doctor, and Arielle Eckstut, a literary agent — the husband-and-wife pair behind The Essential Guide to Getting Your Book Published. If you have the next vampire-werewolf-wizard young-adult sensation, the next great American novel or a stranger-than-fiction memoir, try your luck at the Kansas City Public Library's Plaza Branch (4801 Main, 816-701-3407) at 6:30 p.m. It's open to the public, but reservations are strongly encouraged because space is limited.
