Bacharach by Duboc

In her career, Kansas City native Carol Duboc has worked with the likes of George Duke, Patti LaBelle, Joe Sample, Stephanie Mills and others in the Los Angeles music scene. She’s well-respected as a talented songwriter and arranger in smooth-jazz and R&B circles. And she delivers her own enchanting sounds — Duboc’s warm, congenial voice recalls the singing of June Christy and Peggy Lee. Tonight, Duboc returns to a hometown stage for a benefit concert with legendary jazz flautist Hubert Laws and a host of familiar Kansas City musicians. Catch Carol Duboc featuring Hubert Laws -— A Night of Bacharach & More at 8 p.m. at the Folly Theater (300 West 12th Street, 816-474-4444). The performance comes on the heels of the release of Duboc’s new album Burt Bacharach Songbook. Ticket prices range from $25 to $35. Some proceeds benefit the Children's Place and Animal Haven. A free wine tasting at 7 p.m. precedes the concert.
