Bad Santa

The new theater company She & Her Productions started out with a bang with its premiere play, The Shape of Things, by famous woman hater Neil LaBute — an interesting choice for a company run by a lesbian couple. After scaling back the intensity for You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, She & Her returns to a lighter take on controversy with The Eight: Reindeer Monologues. Debuting in 1995, The Eight emerged against the backdrop of the O.J. Simpson trial, putting an interspecies spin on she says-he says. The she in this case is young Vixen, who accuses Santa of being horribly naughty. All of the other reindeer laugh and give conflicting testimony on the "holly jolly sex crime." Performances are at 8 p.m., with additional shows December 10 and December 11, at the West Bottoms' Crane Building (1107 Hickory, 816-405-9200). Tickets cost $12; see sheandherproductions.com.— Grace Suh
